First Book of the Year

There is something significant in picking the first book of a new year. The reading lists have been wiped clean, and it’s a fresh start. First Book of the Year by Book Journey is a tag that prompted reflection and intentionality as I considered how I wanted to start 2018.

Being a time of resolutions and fresh starts, I decided on Fitness Junkie by Lucy Sykes and Jo Piazza. The novel pokes fun at the fitness industry, and all the crazy things people do to be fit and pretty in an image crazed society (who else is obsessed with Instagram and Pinterest?). Naked yoga and clay diets… What?

I am hoping this book will keep everything in perspective. Working in the health industry I often feel pressured to be super health conscious and up to date with the latest and greatest trends. This new year I want to push back against pressure (both internal and external) and respect my body, saying no to the crazy and yes to moderation. If you missed it here is my list of resolutions, but this year is all about simplicity and balance.
